Protactinium is a silvery-gray metal, with a bright metallic shine.
It’s toxic and highly radioactive, and one of the rarest and most expensive naturally occurring elements. For many years, the only supply of protactinium was kept in Great Britain.
The British government spent about £400,000 in 1961 to extract just 125 grams of the element, which is the largest amount of protactinium ever obtained!
