I am fascinated by the night stars in the skies above us
However, I prefer the (apparently) brightest of all stars, the Sun.
I stare at the Sun to understand how it works, but without sunglasses (do not try this if you don’t have a telescope)!
My Typical Day
I chat with students, colleagues, other researchers, and sit in front of my computer to try and put everything together.
What I'd do with the money
I would use the money to develop a project to meet young people who’ve recently arrived in the UK (e.g. refugees and asylum seekers) and hopefully inspire them to study science subjects.
I’m interested in mixing science and language and I run a French-speaking Café scientifique in Glasgow and in Edinburgh – open to anyone who can understand French and has a curious mind. I’d like to extend the concept to reach more people, e.g. refugees. I would use the money to develop a project to meet young people who’ve recently arrived in the UK and hopefully inspire them to study science subjects.
