Hmm, good question. I always knew I loved science, but it took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do in terms of a career (and then even when I finished my PhD, my plans had changed a lot). I was always really curious about how everything works, and I loved working out it for myself, which is exactly what science is all about. What I should have thought about, though, was what sort of job within science would have been best for me. I was probably a bit naive when I went to university, and just wanted to learn all about cool biology! It’s really, really, really a good idea to think about all the different jobs that are out there (spend some time googling, looking for different companies and job roles within them, etc) because it’s easier to achieve something if you know what it is you’re aiming for 🙂
