Science can be tough, especially if you want to be a researcher at a university: you have to apply for funding every few year, and you have to publish your results in top journals. All this means there’s a lot of pressure, and sometimes your boss can be relying on you to get something done, but it’s not always possible. That’s why I became a science communicator, because I realised I loved that even more than I loved being in the lab doing research.
All careers have tough patches though, and I think it’s better to be trying really hard, than to be stressed because your job is too boring and dull. You can change your job whenever you want, you’re not committed for the rest of your life, but it’s really good to get to the end of a hard period and look back at how you got through it.
