      Most of my friends and colleagues are scientists, and they’re totally normal, regular people. My colleagues from the science department in my company are all really nice – sometimes I go running with one of the senior scientists, and we all have lunch together every day, because we are good friends.

      The challenge in academic science is that careers are extremely tough, and the competition is very high, so sometimes there are occasions when people don’t treat each other kindly, but that’s an exception, and it can happen in any field, not just science.
