The company that I work for is developing medicine for patients whose disease has no existing cure or treatment. That means that with this treatment, we hope to allow them to live longer, healthier lives. It’s hard to imagine doing something that could be more helpful to people.

My work will hopefully help other people in the long term. When we can find out how MPNs develop and the best ways to treat them (and hopefully cure them) then people who get these diseases can get better quickly and carry on living their lives. As for short term help, research into these diseases can take a long time because cancer is a very complicated disease and there are many different types of cancers.

People long term- we help prevent people being unwell and needing to use other NHS resources eg A+E

The Environment long term- we help dispose of unwanted meds safely.
