I’m currently looking at a drug used to treat these types of cancers in hospitals at the moment and see how it is affecting the growth of the cancer. The drug works by blocking the signals that tell the cancer cells to keep growing and dividing into more cells. The problem with this treatment is the medicine works on some people but not on others and it doesn’t completely cure the cancer (only a stem cell transplant can do this at the moment). The drug is good at treating some symptoms of the disease but it can have quite nasty side effects too.

When we find out more about how this type of cancer develops and exactly how the drug affects this cancer, we can then focus on developing drugs which work for everyone and kill all the cancer cells with as few side effects as possible (hopefully no side effects!)

Thanks for your question gonzo1o, I really enjoyed answering this one!
